Wedding Trends to Make Your Wedding Stand Out
As a quick recap, two weeks ago, we discussed:
1) handwritten cards and foil touches for save the date cards adn invitations
2) paper flowers
We sincerely hope you enjoy the next three items this week! We most definitely do for your I Dos!
This third tip may take you out of your comfort zone, but you’ll be sure to set your nuptials apart from every wedding by adding pops of color. Lots and lots of wedding have similar light, feminine colors or simple color schemes, accented by black, white or ivory.
What if you broke the mold on this tradition? What if you mixed in pops of color to add your peppy personality into your day? After all, it is a day of celebration.
COLORFUL table design with Satin Peacock and Satin Spa Sorbet from Linens by the Sea:
Some ways of doing this could be to have a layer of colored tulle sewn into the folds of your dream dress for a surprise pop of color as you walk down the aisle. Perhaps the easiest way to bring in color is at your reception. Fun colors such as in a playful lounge area with brightly colored pillows truly makes it a mingling encouraged event. It allows for relaxation, laughter and more importantly, it gives the bride and groom time to just enjoy their guests in an atmosphere infused with character and pop.
Bringing in color with your linens while keeping your centerpiece simple with clear vases as to not compete with the overall look can be a more subtle colorful style. One of our favorite combinations being used at a wedding this upcoming March at Sunken Gardens, a venue in St. Petersburg, Florida, is the combination of Shimmer Crease Purple Cabbage, Shimmer Crease Victorian Gold, and overlays with Tropical Palm Plum. From runners to high-tops, this mix of the colors sets the tone of the best wedding reception of the year!
More ways to add personality and flair are with combinations of various light fixtures such as street lamps and tent draping washed with colorful LED’s and lit Chinese paper lanterns. Our favorites are featured below from some past events.
Fourth on our trend setting tips for weddings in 2016 is centerpiece décor that tells a story, reflects your hobbies as a couple and doesn’t match table to table. Maybe you and your partner-to-be met on a cruise, love traveling or enjoy novels. Having your centerpieces and décor reflect your interests can be memorable and gorgeous. Now you may think this has been done before, with baby photos or pictures of places you’ve traveled together represented on a post card, but these next ideas take the concept a bit further.
For example, literary themes are a big hit right now. Using milk glass with baby’s breath stacked on top of a set of old books with a crisp white taffeta linen for contrast really brings the whole idea together. Another idea that seems to be hitting wedding décor is mentioned in an article by Weddingguide.com, titled, “The Hottest New Wedding Trends for 2016”, http://bridalguide.com/planning/the-details/reception/wedding-trends-2016?page=1. This trend is every table having the same elements but not put together in the same manner. See our inspiration below.
Last but not least, and one of the most important things that many guests say makes or breaks a successful wedding reception is FOOD! Yes, these days everyone is a foodie and want something truly special. So how do you stray from your typical buffet or plated dinner while still attempting to please everyone? DIY!
Your desire to DIY is having a come back in 2016. What do we mean by DIY food? Stations, of course! Interactive stations like:
1) pasta made to order with fresh ingredients
2) cheese, meats and fruits stations that resemble a New York deli
3) a melting fondue station
4) receptions with stations themed after cities featuring filling appetizer sized food styled in unique holders, glasses and even edible containers.
5) Interactive is in this year, and it’s the best way to fill everyone up throughout the night
All in all, you use these tips to make your wedding your own, and please remember just that: IT’S YOUR WEDDING. This will make your celebration something that you will remember for years to come, and you can’t go wrong.
