There are so many options and things to decide upon when designing your dream wedding. These days, we see a lot of different styles and themes for weddings. Vintage, rustic, classic, modern, and tropical are some of the most popular we’ve noticed today. Searching the internet, looking at Pinterest and reading wedding blogs are a few ways to gain inspiration on which route you want to take.
Vintage weddings are all over Pinterest right now. We see lots of ivory lace; as an overlay or a runner on top of a table, affixed onto invitations, tied around bouquets, designed on the cake, the list could go on and on. We love the vintage color palettes that we see, too. Mostly shades of white, ivory or beige, mixed in with some soft colors such as blush, grey or light blues and greens. At Linens by the Sea, we carry white hemstitch napkins and overlays that have a nice vintage feel to them. A vintage wedding is the perfect look if you appreciate the history and styles from the past.
We’ve seen rustic weddings featured in just about every wedding magazine or blog. To achieve the rustic theme, we almost always use our burlap overlays or runners. They are rustic to-a-tee! Pair them with some mason jars inside of a decorated barn in the country you’ve got yourself a rustic wedding. Instead of your normal chair for the ceremony, use bales of hay for the guests to sit on. There are tons of fun DIY projects when it comes to rustic weddings, too. Search “rustic wedding” on Pinterest, and you will have your hands full of DIY wedding crafts before you know it. So fun!
Classic weddings never go out of style. Here in Sarasota, there are so many beautiful venues that are timeless backdrops for the bride and groom. The Ringling Museum and the Powell Crosley Estate are two of the most gorgeous venues for an elegant wedding. Since these venues have a lot going on already, there is not much you have to do when it comes to decorating. Linens in white, ivory or champagne compliment this look very well. One of my personal favorite linens is our Dupioni fabric in the “sand” color. It is a nice upgrade from our standard poly linens and has a little bit of texture to it so it’s not so plain.
Modern weddings are always unique and compelling. For a modern look, try using square china instead of the typical round plates. Patterned linens, such as our chevron or fantasia overlays, give a modern feel to any room. Incorporating interesting shapes and colors will give everyone something to marvel at. One of our favorite modern venues is Nova 535 in St. Petersburg, Florida. With its exposed brick walls and large pieces of art covering the room, you can’t go wrong here. Modern trends are always changing, so it is intriguing to find out what people will come up with next.
And lastly, tropical weddings. Here on the coast of Florida we see a lot of these. There are many venues overlooking the water in the Sarasota and Tampa Bay area, and of course, there’s always the obvious venue of being smack dab on the beach, how can you beat that? You can use treasures such as seashells, sand dollars and star fish that you find along the shore as decorations, as well as other beachy nick nacks like cast nets, or rowing oars. Turquoise, greens and corals are hot colors for a tropical wedding, or if you’re leaning more towards the nautical side, use navy and white.
