Going Green, and We Don't Mean the New Pantone Color!
Did you know that the average wedding produces over 400 pounds of trash? Linens by the Sea does everything in its power to continuously achieve environmentally sustainable practices. We re-use our linen hangers and our laundry bags, donate discontinued linens to charitable organizations, recycle shipping boxes, use energy efficient washers and dryers, and our outside sales rep drives a Toyota Hybrid Prius, among many other things! Our linen expert Joy has some ideas on how you can be environmentally responsible at your wedding!

1. Throw Bird Seed Instead of Rice
Okay, I'm not entirely sure if people still do the rice-throwing thing, but it's an idea! There are also TONS of other Eco-friendly confetti ideas on Pinterest. What if you also had personalized bird seed favors for each guest to tie it all together?! Adorable. Another idea? Have the reception and the ceremony at the same location to reduce the use of fossil fuels.

2. Home-Grown Succulents
I actually did this at my wedding! It's kind of hard though, because succulents can be really delicate. (Half of mine fell apart, so be prepared for this if you don't have much of a green thumb like me). I used them to decorate the guest tables, and I also gave them out as gifts to my wedding party after the wedding was over.
Succulents pair perfectly with our Pearls overlay. The photo below shows a bare wooden table with a Pearls Overlay. Dainty and provincial:
Another super-cute idea for homemade favors: make honeycomb-shaped coasters out of used wine corks. All you have to do is glue 19 wine corks together in a honeycomb shape, let it dry, and then glue a ribbon in your color theme around the edges. I found this idea on Etsy!
3. Make Your Own Paper!
Does this sort of sound like a very tedious 3rd grade art project? Maybe. But just think about all of that junk mail, scrap paper, used gift paper, or newspapers you have lying around your house. And then think of how awesome this would look, especially if you have a vintage theme! Look at this photo I found on Etsy - (you could always pay to have them made if you don't have time to do it yourself).
4. Charity Donations
You could skip your wedding favors altogether and give a donation to your favorite charity in your guests' names instead. Here is a list of charities that I found in Florida. #giveback

5. Rent Your Wedding Linens
This is the most obvious (maybe I am a little biased). Instead of using disposable tablecloths, rent linens! Be sure to use #rentyourweddinglinens and we will share your photos on Instagram! Another idea I've seen on Pinterest? Use leaves as escort cards, and write the guests' names on them! Talk about "greenery".
