Well it might be summer time in Florida, but our clients are already getting ready for the 2014-2015 social season. They are getting very imaginative with their upcoming social event set ups while enjoying this time of year's sun and fun. Lately, we at Linens by the Sea and U.S. Tent Rental are learning something new each and every day from our event planners and our DIY brides, and it’s really getting our team's creative juices flowing. The more innovative they get the more motivated we can be with table layouts, linens and suggestions on lighting and centerpieces, so here’s some of our ideas on the up and coming trends for this year’s season inspired from our very talented clients.
High top dinner tables using rectangular 6 foot or 8 foot banquet tables is very trendy. These can be placed around the perimeter of the venue or tent, and they give a total WOW affect to any setting. No one says you have to have all your guest seated at round tables. You can use rectangular, round and square tables all in the same setting and mix it up with different linen styles and multi-level centerpieces. You can even place runners on your rectangular table overlays. It’s fun and makes it unique to your personal style.
Also, finding the most unique venue is becoming a very big trend. We are getting requests to place tents in some of the most unusual locations. Roof tops of corporate building, parking structures, national parks, privately run botanical gardens and private ranches are the hot spots right now that we are seeing. And, of course, since we are in Florida, our most popular spot is for the beach wedding. So pick the best place that fits your needs for your special event. Enjoy!
Some of the trends that are going to be with us from now on is ecofriendly events. Using bamboo plates and flatware are great and bio degradable. Branding your gifts in recycled jars with a plant that your guest can take home and replant is a really big hit.
Use recycled jars and wild flowers as your centerpieces. These are very colorful and a great conservation starter for your guests.
If you’re into books, scrabble or music, just include all these items in your centerpieces as it shows who you are and that these things are important to you. If you’re a foodie, incorporated this with your theme. Give your guests something to take back with them that they can use at home and every time they use it, they will think back on what a great time they had at your event. If wine is your thing, then have signature wine bottles made with your personal logo. This will be cherished by all guests. Recycle your favorite wine collection and use these as your guest table number stands and place your guest names on the corks. (This will require a lot of wine drinking…) and will be absolutely fun.
If nature is your thing, get creative with Mother Nature. I love going on walks and finding all kinds of ideas just from the plants and trees that are in my neighborhood. Wood chips from trees, pine cones, bamboo stalks, moss and palm leaves can all make wonderful centerpieces, place card holders or even cake stands. This is very ecofriendly so get out there and take a walk because trendy ideas are all around you...
If the sand and beaches are your thing here in Florida, the ideas are endless for beach themed weddings. One item to note that we like to remind our clients about is that during the summer, a beach wedding is wonderful but keep in mind the heat and make sure you have a tent for your reception as this helps protect your guests, staff and you. Also, if you have to have that ceremony on one of our succulent beaches get umbrellas for your guest as not everyone likes sitting under the beautiful Florida sun. We don't want any sunburns! Ouch!
Lighting is a must at all events. It can be a crystal chandelier, café bulbs, LED colored up lighting, Chinese paper lanterns, or a lighted LED twinkle wall. The trends out there are endless. You can even light up your dinner tables from below or on top. Honestly, it’s all going to depend on your theme and venue location.
Go elegant or go wild - it’s your event so have fun and enjoy!
