Having your event rental professional partner selected early on and sometimes even included in the walk through and on site process can save you on your event budget and prevent any challenges the venue might hold. With an expert on hand to answer any questions and to make suggestions, you will have a FABULOUS affair!
At Linens by the Sea and at US Tent Rental, our parent company, all of the sales professionals and many of the leaders in the operational staff are Certified Event Rental Professionals (CERP).
What is a CERP?
The Certified Event Rental Professional (CERP) program, offered exclusively by the American Rental Association (ARA), is the only rental-specific certification program in the world for those in the party and event rental industry. It is an in-depth, self-study program for individuals who seek a competitive edge and professional credentials. Graduates deliver remarkable results that benefit their clients.
All event rental professionals offer invaluable information. At Linens by the Sea, for instance, we are specialists in which linen sizes fit what table shapes, the authority on color trends each year and season, and tablecloth texture/fabric experts.
For the rental of tents, as to what kind of tenting is needed based on your head count, tent placement, time frame to install and the strike of your event, an expert in the field will be of the utmost importance. If you’re using an outside venue with tenting, you might need a sub floor in case of bad weather or uneven ground, and they will be able to work that cost in early on so you know in advance what your budget should be without surprises. There are so many other details, too, that your CERP professional can bring to your attention once on site for a walk through of the grounds so that you will be in wonderful shape if renting a tent.
Don't forget to find out the following: Are temporary tent permits needed at the event venue as these take time? There is an additional cost to apply for a permit, and if your event set up is on a Saturday and a fire inspection is needed, your CERP professional will be able to supply you with this information.
Let your CERP know if you are looking at having a band or DJ. Do you want them up on a stage? Is your group big on dancing? If so, a larger dance floor might be needed, and this will require additional space under the tent. What color and style of dance floor are you thinking? The color and style will all depend on your vision, and the expert can help you with these details. Is there power or enough power onsite or will your rental store need to bring in more power with generators or with long extension cords? If so, they will need to know what your band, DJ and catering power requirements are, and sometimes a second walk through is needed. Often, the catering company and other event companies like florists and designers have additional needs that were not brought up in the first site visit, and a second site visit is helpful to also confirm these details.
What does your venue or caterer offer, i.e. tables, chairs, linens, staging, lighting? If they are not supplying these rental items, your CERP professional will need to make a note of this so that these items can be added onto the rental proposal. If yoru venue or caterer only offer a standard white or ivory linen and you’re looking for a more specialty color and fabric, then your CERP professional will set up a showroom appointment so you can come by and take a look at what they have to offer and help bring your vision to life. When our Linens by the Sea sales representative have showroom appointments, we ask our clients to bring any and all items that they are going to be placing on the dinner table. And if possible, bring a sample of their centerpieces so that we can make sure everything works together. Our clients then will know what their final dazzling look will be with everything in place on the showroom table.

Most rental companies work directly with your catering company to make sure all items that you need are rented because we don't want the little things and behind the scene needs forgotten that the caterer might like to have i.e. large trash cans, lattice to block the kitchen preparation area from your guests' view, salt & pepper shakers, napkins for bread baskets, portable sinks and access to water for portable restrooms.
Our corporate clients are becoming more and more aware of what we are capable of creating and renting and what is expected of us each and every year when they rebook us. In fact, we are often requested by our clients to create a different look, theme and budget for each occassion, and we love the challenge of turning a dream into an amazing reality!
We are growing each year and adding new items and designs to our company. For example, tent draping was an area that we contracted out for our clients in teh past, and now it’s something our teams have been trained in, and we can offer direct to the client which helps with budgeting and reducint multiple delivery fees.
Your CERP professional truly knows what’s hot and what’s not, what will work for your event and what they have in their warehouse. If you’re not sure about something ask your Certificate Event Rental Professional, and they will find the answers you need.
So remember, no matter how small or how large your event is, we are here to help in any way possible. Stop by, give us a call or send an email. We are always here to help you make your next event a night your guests will not forget.
